SYNCHRO+ Early Access Release notes (and Welcome!)

SYNCHRO+ Early Access Release Notes

About SYNCHRO+

SYNCHRO+
SYNCHRO+ is the next evolution of SYNCHRO 4D Pro and SYNCHRO 4D Modeler. SYNCHRO+ unifies the powerful planning and estimating workflows of both products into a single, integrated solution. With a streamlined interface and AI-enhanced functionality, SYNCHRO+ simplifies model navigation and interaction, enhances team collaboration, and enables users to navigate construction sequences and models with greater depth, ease, and speed.

Supported workflows

SYNCHRO+ currently supports the following user workflows:

  1. Estimating and breakdown, for VDC/BIM users on Civil/Roadway projects:

    1. Create, edit and merge Slices

    2. Work area creation and slice by work area

    3. Cost code, assign cost codes and properties

  2. 4D Review and Playback, for 4D Model Consumers who need a lightweight UI to view and play back 4D Models. These users may use OpenViewer and BIC Schedule View:

    1. Opening 4D Pro cloud project in SYNCHRO+ (read-only):

      • Schedule review in #3b

      • Playback 4D by Focus Time

    2. Lightweight planning, schedule review, with or without models, for 4D Planners, Planners and Schedulers who need a basic set of functions to create a schedule, or a 4D model. The schedule and 4D model are independent from SYNCHRO 4D Pro.

      1. Create a basic 4D model

        • Import a schedule (P6 XML or MSP XML)

        • Create appearance profiles (with custom growth)

        • Assign model elements to Tasks

        • Playback 4D by Focus Time

      2. Schedule review

        • Task search

        • Basic Task filters and column filters (not all columns)

        • Gantt chart and navigation

        • Task properties

          • General Info

          • Review Task links (and trace logic)

        • Critical path

      3. Schedule change management

        • Synchronize schedule (P6 XML)

      4. Lightweight Planning, scheduling and Task editing

        • View and edit Data Date

        • Create and delete Tasks*

        • Link Tasks*

        • Unlink Tasks in Task Properties - Links

        • Editing limited Task fields in the Task table:

          • Task editing is very limited and is a work in progress. You will need to use Column Manager to make those columns visible. Editing Tasks is NOT possible in the Task properties.

Major improvements since last release

  1. Schedule Review. Task link display controls, collapse/expand hierarchy, progress bars on task bars, data date and duration editing improvements

  • Display Task Link display controls in Gantt. You can now choose to show links on all tasks, only on-screen tasks, selected tasks, or hide them entirely, giving you full control over Gantt readability.

  • Expand or collapse the task hierarchy in the Gantt. Expand or collapse task groups directly in the Gantt view to show the level of detail you need.

  • Progress bars on task bars. Task bars now display percent complete so you can see progress at a glance without opening task details.

  • Go-to Focus time and Data date toolbar controls. Quickly navigate to focus time or data date directly from the toolbar for faster schedule navigation.

  • Calendar widget improvements. The calendar widget has been enhanced for a better scheduling experience.

  • Data Date uses project date/time for Automatic type. When the Data Date type is set to Automatic, it now derives from the current iTwin project date/time, reducing manual configuration.

  • Duration editing now uses days. Editing task durations defaults to days instead of minutes, matching the way schedulers think about time.

  • Improved collapse/expand menu labels. Context menu options for collapsing and expanding have been renamed for clarity.

  1. 4D Model Playback. Open and view 4D Pro models in SYNCHRO+ with working animation for current-generation schedules

  • View 4D cloud models created by 4D Pro in SYNCHRO+. You can now open and view 4D models built with 4D Pro directly in SYNCHRO+, including basic read mode for current-generation schedules.

  • Working animation playback for current-gen 4D Pro cloud model. 4D animation playback is now functional for current-generation schedules, enabling visual construction sequence review.

  1. Cost Codes. Loading reliability fix (axios → fetch), accurate unassigned counts, auto sync fix, improved error messaging

  • Cost Codes loading reliability. Resolved an issue where Cost Codes could not be loaded when the server was unresponsive, by replacing the underlying HTTP library for greater stability.

  • Correct unassigned Cost Codes count. The count displayed for unassigned Cost Codes is now accurate.

  • Improved error messaging. The Cost Codes widget now shows a correct message when the QTO service is unavailable.

  • Cost Codes auto sync fix. Auto sync no longer fails after multiple cost code assignments.

  1. Work Area Management. Element removal support (CDE/WDE), selection and drawing overlap fixes

    1. Unassign unsliced elements. Users can now unassign unsliced elements from an existing Work Area to keep Work Areas clean and accurate.

    2. Multi-select Work Areas for element selection. When user selects multiple Work Areas, you can now select all elements associated with those Work Areas in one action.

    3. Alignment-based Work Areas start at the station value. Alignment-based Work Areas now begin at the station value defined in properties, providing clearer location context.

  • Remove element support. You can now remove elements from Work Areas through both the frontend and backend, with support for CDE and WDE workflows.

  • Fixed "Select all" behavior. "Select all" in Work Area update now replaces the existing selection instead of appending it.

  • Fixed element creation overlaps. Drawing a new element over an existing polygon no longer creates an unintended additional element.

  • Fixed unintended element removal. Construction elements can no longer be removed when editing a Work Area if the remove-elements flag is disabled.

  1. Repurpose Cost Code widget for WBS creation and review in BIC.

  • Filter bar in BIC Cost Codes widget. A new filter bar with assignment filtering makes it easier to find the cost codes you need.

  • Previous releases: Opening iModel now shows more informed progress with steps.

  • The Plan frontstage introduces new playback and Gantt header experience.

  • P6 and MSP XML imports are now combined.

  • Feedback button enables users to submit feedback through Aha.

  • Day 0 experience is more calming. Widgets are relocated or hidden in both frontstages. Copilot is now disabled until further improvements are in place.

  • Work Area improvements with user outcome in mind:

    • Unassign unsliced elements from existing Work area

    • Selecting multiple work areas allows user to select all elements associated with those work areas

    • Alignment-based work areas now start at the station value from properties (no more 0) to provide more project context based on location

  • Cost Codes:

    • Cost codes are reassigned upon creation of slices.

  • Gantt table improvements:

    • Improved drag-and-drop functionality

    • Updated table UI

    • Lock ID and Name columns for easier navigation

    • Redesigned animation playback

  • Construction data changes can be auto-sync to iModel Hub including slices, work areas and cost code assignments. Changes will be automatically synced every 5 min or when closing iModel.

  • Construction data creation

  • iModel viewer and navigation including:

    • Models and categories trees

    • Visibility toggle and tree search

    • Element properties

    • Enable and disable Maps

    • View Saved Views, and create, rename and delete Saved Views

    • Section

Known issues

  • Import schedule only allows for small data set

  • All batch operations may experience slowness (linking two tasks, deleting multiple tasks and links, as an example)

  • Workflows with * marked are currently experiencing issues that the team is actively working on.

  • Task editing is very limited, and the editable Task columns can be made visible in the Task table using Column Manager. Editing Tasks is not possible in the Task properties.
